Great minds eh 👀

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:03]
Let’s kick it off! First James, could you elaborate on what Curate provides the crypto-community with? What is the product you’re making?🙏

Matthew Harper CM — Shopping.io ( Crypto Melon ), [13.02.21 21:03]
[In reply to James]
Same industry. Different avenues. 🥰

James, [13.02.21 21:03]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Sure!

James, [13.02.21 21:04]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Curate is a peer to peer marketplace app supporting crypto payments and rewards

Our native token, $XCUR, when used offers zero gas fees and staking

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:05]
Interesting, the marketplace is only for crypto-related business?

James, [13.02.21 21:06]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
No, it’s for mainstream categories in addition to crypto too so fashion, NFTs, gaming/tech, health and beauty

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:07]
Alright! Sounds innovative

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:07]
The team behind XCUR is non-anon and can be found on the website. Can you tell us what background the team members have and if we might know them from previous crypto projects?

James, [13.02.21 21:09]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
The current team involves myself, a full-stack developer, 2 blockchain developers and a UX designer from Russia, a marketer from London, UK and an accountant/tokenomics expert in Johannesburg, South Africa. Combined we have over 12 years of experience doing what we do

We’ve previously worked with 2 developers from Energi and Airswap as well to help build Curate

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:10]
Good to see an experienced team leading the project. Is it correct you guys started all the way back in 2019?

James, [13.02.21 21:10]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes Jan 2019!

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:12]
The first bull run for the team, how have you guys experienced it so far? ;)

James, [13.02.21 21:13]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
It’s been very fun! Though we know the good times won’t last forever which is why our focus is on ensuring our app business model is robust

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:13]
Yeah understandable, definitely. As you said, thee application is the core of the company, what are the main features of this app? Why would one use it?

James, [13.02.21 21:15]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
If you use eBay, FB Marketplace, GumTree or similar P2P marketplaces then Curate should definitley be an option for you.

With Curate you can buy/sell goods using crypto currency including our own native token $XCUR (zero gas fees if you do)

You also get rewards for pretty much everything even if you don’t buy anything

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:16]
That’s a promising business model, how do you ‘pay’ to make sure there’s zero fees? And where do the rewards come from?

James, [13.02.21 21:18]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
We fund the gas fees from our ETH wallet whenever a user spends in $XCUR and we fund our ETH wallet from our comission model. It’s a self-fulfilling model

The rewards come from any of the engagement metrics met including likes, follows, comments, buying/selling, age of account, daily activity.

We have antispam algorithm in app to prevent abuse

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:20]
Clear answer, thanks James😄! Sounds like the app can be very profitable

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:20]
The project has been working for a couple of years on the application, how far are developments at the moment?

James, [13.02.21 21:21]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
The iOS app has been submitted for review and the Android app will be submitted in the next few days 😊

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:21]
Wow, that’s very fast already🙏 Congrats on this!

James, [13.02.21 21:22]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Thank you 🙏

James, [13.02.21 21:22]
I just sent a tweet out hence all the new followers right now 😅 hope you don’t mind

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:23]
Do you have some screenshots of the app?

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:23]
[In reply to James]
Absolutely no problem, our community is still growing and we know these new people will like it here🕺🕺

James, [13.02.21 21:23]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes I’ll send some and a video if that’s ok?

Lotttsss of info, wow! The application looks very simple to use👌

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:27]
[In reply to James]
It’s good to see you guys have been working with Beta testers to properly test and validate the app!

James, [13.02.21 21:27]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Thanks, UX and user on-boarding is really important for us.

James, [13.02.21 21:27]
We like to keep things simple at Curate 🙂

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:28]
Will you guys work in close connection with the users for the next updates as well?

James, [13.02.21 21:28]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes, better to under promise and over deliver 🙂

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:28]
[In reply to James]
Good one🤪

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:29]
The team launched back in 2019 with its first product and token, the CUR8 token. How and why was the transition made to XCUR and the current way operating?

James, [13.02.21 21:29]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes, v2 of the app will be out Q3 this year and we’ll allow our users to use $XCUR as collateral so they won’t to spend their $XCUR when buying an item

James, [13.02.21 21:30]
And we’ll be beta testing v2 again before it rolls out

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:30]
[In reply to James]
This is a smart approach!

James, [13.02.21 21:31]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Our original token CUR8 was in large parts distributed to partnering projects through token swaps, but some partners broke contract by selling their tokens on decentralized exchanges before an official listing which created an unfair situation where original investors paid much more for their tokens than those who obtained them on the ‘black market’.

Our new token, XCUR (created in April 2020) fixed this by redistributing the the tokens more fairly excluding those who broke the agreement.

I took the opportunity to upgrade the token contract at the same time; lowering supply from 100M to 10M tokens and adding a burn function. We burnt 15% of the supply in December 2020 and plan to burn each year until 50% of the original supply remains resulting in 5M XCUR total supply.

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:31]
The agile method of developing is a very effective one for applications, good work on that

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:32]
[In reply to James]
Aha! Thanks for clearing that up, understandable approach to create a new token in such an occasion!

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:32]
The Curate app is aimed at solving a problem with the current sources of fashion/gaming/crypto inspiration, what exactly is the current problem with this? How is the Curate app solving this issue?

James, [13.02.21 21:32]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes, it ended up being a blessing in disguise 🙂

James, [13.02.21 21:35]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Zero support for crypto payments when using traditional marketplaces whether it be P2P or mainstream, the current alternatives are not simple and intutive for the every day user.

We’re bridging the gap between the 2 fastest growing industries right now, mobile-ecommerce and cryptocurrency.

We do this by not only supporting crypto payments as an option to traditional payment methods like card and PayPal but sublty introduce $XCUR to get zero gas fees when buying/selling, staking and using blockchain to verify reviews and disputes

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:37]
There’s definitely a bridge that still needs to be made for these type of sectors

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:37]
Do you perceive any competition in this area?

James, [13.02.21 21:38]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Quite a few in this space but where we differentiate is on our zero gas feature when using $XCUR to buy/sell in the curate app and our rewards programme, where we reward users monthly in crypto for their engagement 🙂

James, [13.02.21 21:39]
It’s a killer moat for us and for many who have partnered with Curate

James, [13.02.21 21:39]
And we’re the 1st the market!

James, [13.02.21 21:40]
We’re also app only 😉

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:40]
[In reply to James]
The zero fees is definitely a big plus!

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:40]
You guys are not specifically for crypto either, which differentiates you guys I suppose?

James, [13.02.21 21:41]
[In reply to James]
Making our TAM (tangible addressable market) pretty wide straight of the bat

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:41]
[In reply to James]
That’s exactly what I perceived, straight for the mass public😊

James, [13.02.21 21:41]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes, we want to go mainstrain and bring the crypto community with us

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:42]
Very brave and innovative goal🚀

James, [13.02.21 21:42]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Go big or go home 💪

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:43]

Curate has been active for a while and has persevered strongly! What do you expect in the future? Where do you see Curate in 2 years?

James, [13.02.21 21:49]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
I can split these up into goals for 2021 and long term goals

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:49]
Would be perfect!

James, [13.02.21 21:49]
Goals for 2021:
1. App launch (this month)
2. 10k active users
3. 1k completed tx on the app
4. Save our users $25k in total gas fees
5. $XCUR to hit $35–50 price target
6. Donate $15k to charities

Long term goals:
1. Go public
2. First crypto P2P marketplace app to become a unicorn co.
3. Set up Curate Foundation, our not for profit charity organization

Bill Grimes, [13.02.21 21:51]
Very promising goals James! Also great to see the word ‘charity’ in there twice!

James, [13.02.21 21:51]
[In reply to Bill Grimes]
Yes, giving back is a big driver for us and the team!

Curate funds gas fees from ETH wallet which is funded from commission model whenever a user spends in $XCUR.

How would curate sustain this payment of gas fees and when unhealthy competition starts amongst project that are building bridge between mobile e-commerce and cryptocurrency?

I tried using the curate app but got stuck at registration page after filling Name, surname, email and password. Is this a technical Glitch? When would it be resolved?

1% of the sale is split and given back to the buyer and seller. Curate’s net comission is 4%
